Partnerships between cities and international contacts do not just offer a wide rage of possibilities for commitment but also bear specific challenges at the same time.

City partnerships provide various opportunities to enrich both, the public life of the city and the private one of its citizens. The individual exchange opens up a free and easy access to knowledge and contacts in the partner city. Thanks to the trustful relationship, an exchange and cooperation in common projects regarding topics like urban planning is possible without any reservation.

It is this relationship with the partner cities, grown in many years of intensive work, that has built this confidence in a far reaching and often complex international environment.

The continuous and broad development of the partnerships is based upon three essential components:

• the strong commitment of the University and Hanseatic town of Greifswald, of the university’s staff, of the companies, of the institutions, of the associations and of the numerous citizens of Greifswald,
• the provision of financial resources by municipal authorities, by various institutions and associations,
• the continued exchange on common projects and cooperation.

Greifswald regularly offers trips to the twin towns to maintain the close contact. Hereby we work together with the travel agency GoAtlantis.
