€100 relocation assistance for registering the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald as your main residence
If you move to Greifswald to start your training or studies and register your main residence in the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald for the first time, you can apply for relocation assistance at the Department of Resident Registration (Einwohnermeldeabteilung).
To do so, you must complete the application form (German) and submit it together with a copy of your ID/passport and your student ID/certificate of enrolment/apprenticeship contract/school certificate.
You must live in Greifswald at least until 31 December of the year in which you make your application in order to be eligible.
If you provide incorrect information or move away from Greifswald before 31 December, you will have to pay back the money.
Registration of a residence in the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald
If you move into a residence in the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald and keep it for more than three months, you need to register at the Department for Resident Registration (Einwohnermeldewesen) of the Office for Citizens´ Services and Fire Protection (Amt für Bürgerservice und Brandschutz) in the Town Hall (Stadthaus), Markt 15.
Please bring your passport and confirmation of accommodation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung - German website, PDF). If family members (spouses and children) move into the residence too, their passports are also needed.
